Meet Mrs Tangle
Mrs Bel Tangle is Soap Street’s resident gossip and do-gooder, always sticking her nose into everyone else’s business. A well-respected member of the community, Mrs Tangle is never afraid to involve herself in matters others would rather keep private. She somehow always finds it convenient to know as much as she can about everyone, carefully storing every detail in her notepad—just in case a cast member tries to blackmail her. Then, she’ll have ammunition at hand.
Meet Beryl the Superbitch
Conceived in 1988 as the ultimate homage to classic Australian soap opera matriarchs, Beryl is the sharp-tongued driving force of Soap Street. Originally written as an over-the-top tribute to the drama and scandalous twists of Aussie television, her character became an instant crowd favourite during the sold-out 2002 Penrith stage run and the historic 2003 all-star performance in Newtown. Fierce, cunning, and never caught without a scheme, Beryl remains the beating dramatic heart of the series.
Meet: Dorny BooWinkle
Dorny Boo-Winkle is poised to become the richest woman on Earth after her husband takes control of the Boo-Winkle Corporation following the death of his older brother. Now, Dorny eagerly awaits her husband’s final breath, knowing she will inherit the company.
But when her late brother-in-law’s wife uncovers the truth about what Dorny has done, everything is thrown into jeopardy. How will Dorny escape her murderous past and become the richest woman on the planet, while giving her 18-year-old son, Marsipan—or Mars—the extravagant lifestyle he dreams of without ever having to work? Ruthless, cunning, selfish, and effortlessly stylish, Dorny will stop at nothing to get what she wants. But what secret from before she married Mr. Boo-Winkle could change her forever? And will it soften this hard, self-centred executive enough to make her human again?
Meet: Mars BooWinkle
Mars Berwinkle is Soap Street’s ultimate heartthrob and the beloved son of Donnie Bullwinkle, a woman determined to become the richest person in the world. Mars—whose full name is Marzipan Dewin Berwinkle—is Donnie’s pride and joy, and she will stop at nothing to give him everything he wants, so he can do absolutely nothing.
That’s right: Mars Berwinkle may be the biggest hopeless case ever to walk the Earth, but on Soap Street, every girl is obsessed with him. None more so than Soap Street’s sweetheart, Jacky Jackson, who has finally managed to score her first date with Mars. Will it go well? LOL—probably not.
As the drama unfolds, jealous rivals are ready to ruin the day. And speaking of ruined days, how will Mars cope when his father dies and his mother takes control of the mighty Berwinkle Corporation? What shocking, scandalous surprises await him? Will Mars rise to the occasion, or fade away like the loser everyone expects him to be?
Only time will tell… and honestly, we’re going to need help finding out.
